Tell us a bit about your music journey, when and why did you get started?

I started as a DJ, back in 2000. For 7 years I was a resident DJ in different clubs in Romania. In 2008 I started to play with sounds, and slowly I discovered that I liked to produce music. My first "productions" were very bad, but after a while, I could make some decent songs. One of them had a big impact in Europe, in 2010.

What do you consider the highlight of your journey as a producer?

I don't think there is such a thing. I think that as a producer, you will always have something to learn.

You’ve been with us for 4 years, what made you join We Make Dance Music?

I was curious to see if others will appreciate my work. I listened to a lot of sample pack demos, and I realised that my music was just as good or better.

What are your favorite genres at the moment, and what do you think about categorizing music into genres?

Well, now, I like house very much, funky house, groove house and tribal house. Regarding the categories of genres, I think that nowadays a lot of music is categorized wrong. For example today’s techno music is not authentic techno, in my opinion. Same goes for hip hop. Even in biggest online stores, music genres are categorized wrongly.

What do you enjoy most about being part of our online community?

I like to share my work with others. Also, I like to share some of my knowledge through my products. And I can see my own journey through my career.

What developments would you like to see in the future?

We Make Dance Music has grown a lot in the last 5 years. Mikas works very hard every day to makes things go better and better. A lot of big names from this industry like Sample Tools by CR2, Highlife Samples, Catalyst Samples sell their samples on WMDM, and this is a big thing. I think that it would be nice if clients could give notes, or stars from 1 to 5 to producers. Also, a notification function for customers would be good.

And finally, why do you do what you do?

I do music because I like it. Producing music relaxes me. It’s this kind of job where you don't need to have a boss and a regular schedule. And most of all, producing music is part of my life now. I walk on the street and I think of some melodies. I listen to some music, and ideas just fly into my head. Anywhere I am, anything I do, my mind is on music production.
