Tell us a bit about your music journey, when and why did you get started?

I started DJing when I was 16 or 17 which then led me into music production. It was all quite unexpected to be honest. I was with my DJ partner and one day he showed me Logic and I was fascinated by all the possibilities.

How and when did you discover Electronic Music

It was with me as far as I can remember. But I really remember getting into it during the Steve Angello and Eric Prydz days!

What do you consider the highlight of your journey as a producer?

It was definitely releasing my debut album under Sterling Grove in 2017. It was a long and rewarding process that I think every artist should undergo. It helped us connect with other artists and musicians that we are fans of and ended up collaborating with some of them.

You’ve been with us for 2 years and sold 350 items so far! What made you join We Make Dance Music?

It was actually a happy accident. I was looking for new speakers online and I found a pair that I liked. In the process of buying them MIKAS introduced himself as the owner of We Make Dance Music and that we should work together. After checking out the site I saw some potential.

What are your favorite genres at the moment, and what do you think about categorizing music into genres?

I like all styles of music at the moment. I love listening to older funk and disco song to get inspired.

What do you enjoy most about being part of our online community?

I like making new templates and uploading new sounds knowing that I may be teaching another producer on the process of making music. Who knows, maybe I’m helping out the next “Avicii” in a few years.

What do you do to get inspired and consistently produce music?

Looking at other people’s great art and music. It can be from a Michelangelo painting or movies like The Great Beauty. Making music is more instinctual to me than force. It is a form of meditation to me, after a long studio session I always feel happier.

Where does your creativity come from?

My own unconscious self I guess.

Let us know what artist are inspiring you at the moment?

David August, Maribou State, Timmy Thomas, and Michelangelo

How do you keep yourself motivated?

There are some days where I feel less motivated than other but eventually it always comes back out of instinct. I think it’s normal to not feel motivated some days.

What advice would you give aspiring producers?

Don’t worry about what’s popular right now just keep on doing your thing. Also try and collaborate with other artists as much as possible. It’s very rare that good music is only made by 1 person.

Tell us about the music scene where you live

Montreal has an inspiring dance music community. There are many cool bars and clubs that play some underground house and techno that bring international artists.

If there were a formula to success what would be the ingredients?

Coffee and hard work

And finally, why do you do what you do?

I love making music and possibly having a positive impact on others.
